Stop limiting God. You can’t put a cap on what He can do, so stop trying to. Jesus has more for you than you can even imagine. That “thing” in your life is not too big for our God. Stop complaining. Stop worrying. & just let Him work.
Harsh? probably, but how real & applicable are those words to all of our lives?
How many times have you shut down ideas or thrown away the things you dreamed of? Have you doubted if He is a God of miracles; a God who heals? Or when you pray those “little” prayers, the prayers that you think are silly. When you pray and ask for the Lord to make the wind blow on a hot day. Prayers to see dolphins at the beach. All those quick, little prayers that others laugh at; and that WE, ourselves laugh at. If you are the grammar police, forgive me for the run-on sentences, but the list could definitely go on.
Think about the number of times when we limit the power of God without even recognizing it. A lot of the time it is with the littlest things, so it may just go over our heads. However, if we aren’t going to believe He can do the little things; what is making you think He will do the big things?
It is month five on the field & like I have said in my previous blogs, I have been learning about who the Lord and His people say He is. There have been words I have heard since Sunday school when I was younger to words that have never even crossed my mind until now. There is such a wide variety of words to describe who God is, & the craziest thing is that we serve a God who does it all. Habakkuk 1:5 says “Look at the nations and watch—and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” lf that doesn’t show his power & capability, then open your Bible more because there is way more where that came from. When we can’t wrap our head around something, God has already wrapped his hands around it, and knows what’s coming next. He is simply waiting for us to believe He can do big things.
It is super eye-opening when the question “who is the Lord?” is thrown around a room of 40+ people, and everyone can give a completely different answer than the person to their right or left. Why confine Him to one word? or one sentence. Yes, He is a father, but He is also a friend. He is a comforter, and a sustainer. God is all the things & more! Don’t put a limit to the greatness of things He can/will do in your life. Let God work.
Recently, I was asked to put together a video of my squad showing what the Lord has done on the race thus far. With complete creative freedom, we settled with the question, “who has the Lord been to you?” While filming & editing this video, I began to reflect on how God reveals different parts of His character to different people at different times. I realized that He is not just the one adjective I use to describe Him as, He is every single one of the words that my squad-mates used as well. The Lord has provided a space for each member of Gap 23 to step into who God says He is, and fully believe it.
Who is the Lord to you?
Ask yourself, and write down the words as they come to mind. Be listening for new words. Let your mind run wild of what God can do, and remember the impossible things He as already done.
Wow!!! Your first paragraph says it all!!! Beautifully written. The video is awesome, thanks so much for sharing!
