“God made two great lights— the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night… God saw it & it was good” Genesis 1:16-18

Deuteronomy 8 – “do not forget the Lord, your God.”

I believe that that the Lord reveals His goodness to us daily, but it’s up to us if we want to focus on finding and seeing it or not. I have always had this special love and appreciation for creation. Being able to see the uniqueness of creation and know that there is a creator that did ALL of that! Like whoa!

So, this past week at training camp has been extra fun because we have been focusing on different pathways to connect with God and ways to worship Him. Our first teaching was “Finding the Lord in Nature.” One thing I love about the AIM staff is that they give us a message & then let us act on it or debrief it. So, after our nature teaching we all went outside to spend time with the Lord & His creation. I sat myself down in a shaded area and just looked around, focusing on how the sun hit everything around me. Everything just looks so different in the light. The unique way each thing glows — The way the gravel sparkles, and the grass looks greener as the sun hits it. The way the sun reveals the intricate patterns of the leaves. Then the clouds; how they glow and radiate light. Creation literally roars his praises.

I find the Lord’s goodness in the sun. I remember His goodness through the sun. The sun is a constant! It is literally always there whether we see it or not. So in relation to that- the Lord is consistent, He is always there. He is always filling us up, and revealing our uniqueness to share with the world. So, I encourage you to find your goodness. Find something that helps you remember why you chose to follow the Lord, so when things get tough & you begin to forget (because we are humans! We will forget!) you have that something to keep you remembering! Be a people of remembrance.

Here are a few of my reminders lately!

The photo to the left is my very first photo in Costa Rica of the home that I just arrived at on January 17!

I am no artist, but this painting is one of my new faves because another pathway we learned about was creativity! How using your creative gifts that the Lord gave you is another way to show your praise to Him. So immediately I was like “THE SUN, I am going to paint the beauty of the sun.” & there ya go!

(Also! fun fact about me! — I have a sun tattoo & another one that means “the sun will always shine.” So you can tell that I really do love the sun and the happiness it brings)

  1. Devin, that is beautiful! Thanks for the reminder for us to seek His beauty at all times, it is ever present! So glad y’all made it to Costa Rica!! We are praying for you and your team! We love ya!

  2. Amen!! Only light can drive out the darkness!! I’m praying, as you are being the hands and feet of Jesus, that your light shines so brightly! Continue planting these seeds and trust that God will make your paths straight! Enjoy the warmth that the sun brings and let the glow of your sun kissed skin, be a reminder that every encounter you have with the Son, leaves a visible reminder of how amazing He truly is! Love you!!
